Tino Gratzer was born in Vienna in 1955.
Since his childhood he liked to draw. At high school he graduated in Art History in 1973.
As he could not imagine to make a living as an artist he started to study medicine and became a Doctor in 1981.
He specialised in Urology and worked in an hospital untily his retirement at the age of 64 in 2019.
Around his 50th birthday in 2005, after a serious illness and an operation, he had to make some changes in his life.
Following an already long standing desire he started with painting, at the beginning with acrylics, soon after with oil colours.
He enrolled in Old Master Technique wokshops with Mag. Klaus Müller at Akademie Stift Geras in 2013 and 2014.
An important inspiration were the books of David Leffel, which showed him a radical different approach to painting.
He paints portraits and stilllifes but most of all he likes to paint funny inspirations in the Old Master style, like Old Master cartoons.
Since 2007 he is a member of the Austrian Ärztekunstverein.
In 2015 he began sculpturing with clay at the Ceramic Studio of Marianne Seiz in Vienna
In 2019 he became a member of the Berufsvereinigung der bildenden Künstler Österreichs.
